A fun day!

Another week is done, the time seems to fly by so fast. School starts here in a week and a few days. When the older kids go back to school, we start our "school" here. Our weekly learning of letters, numbers, colors and shapes. During the summer I am more lax about the learning and we have more fun. We still do a craft everyday and our calender time and reading. I am including a couple pictures from today. We had spaghetti, fruit and garlic cheese bread for lunch. I am always amazed at how much gets on the kids and not in their mouths. I use big dish towels and wrap them around their waists to catch the food from hitting the floor. It works great! I have been using this trick since my 10 1/2 year old daughter was little.

Our week in review

We had a busy past week. We took a trip to the library, and Friday we went to the Wilkin Co. Fair. It was the smallest fair I have ever seen. I was very disappointed, but the kids loved it and had a great time, so that is all that matters. My sister and her 2 kids joined us for the day. The kids all got to go on 3-4 rides and pick a treat to eat. It was kids day, so they had free hot dogs and juice, and tattoos for the kids. We got to pet some animals and see a ton of different animals. It was extremely hot outside, but the kids did so great waiting for their turns on the rides. I was so proud of each one of them.

Only a few weeks before school starts. Summer has gone by so fast. We will be starting our letter, numbers or colors of the week again. We start our learning again. The pictures you will see are of our trip to the fair, the library and playtime at the park and in the house.

Our field trips this week.

This week, we have taken field trips to the library twice and the dairy queen. We have spent a lot of time outside playing and we have been busy with our crafts. We made 3 foot colored cut outs of each of us, we have done our National Smile Week craft and our National Clown Week crafts. We made hand print tulip paintings also. The kids have had a great week. The kids all look great in their white hats. I have white hats for each child so it is easy to pick them out in a crowd and the sun stays out of their faces.

A look at the daycare

Here are some pictures of the daycare area. We do calender time and story time everyday. I just got a new alphabet chart we will start using next month when we start our letters again. Each child has a hook to hang their belongings on.

I included a picture of lunch time. When we have breakfast food for lunch, the kids love that!!

We're going to the Library.

We took a trip to the library yesterday. We had to return our books from the week before and get a new selection. The kids love picking out their own books. We sat outside reading them and having snack afterwards. I was missing a few kids, so it was a small group.

Aug. 4-10, 2008 is National Smile Week. Here at daycare we are making an emotions craft, talking about smiles and emotions. We will take a trip to the library and find books on emotions. We will also be playing play doe, making a tulip hand flower craft, a frog craft and it is also National Clown Week Aug. 1-7, so we will be making a clown craft and reading clown books.
